Changes to Construction Laws Adopted

Stone Harbor Logo

STONE HARBOR – After weeks of discussion, Stone Harbor Borough Council adopted an amendment to its construction ordinance, placing new constraints on construction activity, especially in the summer season.
Work on Memorial Day Weekend, July 4, Labor Day Weekend and Thanksgiving weekend is banned entirely. Work on Sundays is likewise banned from July 1 through the Friday after Labor Day.
The period from July 1 through the Friday after Labor Day carries other restrictions as well. During that period, no demolition or driving of pilings is allowed in the business or residential districts. Also, heavy equipment cannot be used prior to 9 a.m. For the same period, Saturday work is permitted but a number of noisier tasks are banned during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All contractor information, along with issued permits, must be displayed at the site in a location designated by the contract official.
