CREST HAVEN – Modifications to the under-construction correctional center were approved by freeholders for $310,629. Part of the increase was for floor polishing, about $28,000 for a sealant instead of polishing, which would have cost $338,000 and lasted for 30 years. The lesser sum will last for five years, said Facilities and Services Director AnnMarie McMahon.
Some other modifications will allow the use of fewer personnel so that inmates will not leave the housing unit.
In other action the board:
* Approved a $2,250 change order to Fabbri Brothers Inc. to furnish and install an exterior door and reverse swings on two doors at a pole barn at the park and zoo.
* Accept the proposal of Pennoni Associates Inc. for $217,939 for engineering service for Broadway-Seashore Road resurfacing in Lower Township and West Cape May.
* Approved $397,448 contract with NV5 Inc. for engineering services for Springers Mill Road over Dias Creek and Hand Avenue over Skeeter Island Creek. Both are small bridges that need replacement.
* Awarded a $368,225 contract to Command Co. Inc. of Egg Harbor City to create a softball field for the Technical High School.
