FARGO, N.D. — What is the U.S. Coast Guard doing 1,493 miles northwest of Cape May and the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center, where all enlisted personnel start their careers?
They were helping residents in this region after the Red River flooded the Fargo area on Wednesday, March 25.
Officers and enlisted members, some in small boats, others in helicopters, were joining efforts after the Red River flooded the area.

A Coast Guard HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter flew over Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Wheeler as he used a small boat to transport six people and two dogs to a safe rescue platform after the Red River flooded the Fargo area March 25.

Also in Oxbow, two U.S. Coast Guard airboat crews deployed from Coast Guard District 9 and took part in a search and rescue mission during flood response.
