CG Seeks Consultants for Port-wide Security Study

By Herald Staff

PHILADELPHIA — Congress recently authorized the Secretary of Homeland Security to provide an additional $6 million in supplemental grant funding for the increased security of the Delaware River and Bay and its critical infrastructure.
In order to facilitate this effort, the Coast Guard, Sector Delaware Bay, through the Area Maritime Security Committee (AMSC), is soliciting the assistance of security consultants from the private sector.
Similar federal funding, in previous years, has helped the region make enormous progress toward the security enhancements necessary to protect the port, its facilities, and its citizens. The Secretary of Homeland Security and Congress have mandated that the region develop a more comprehensive strategy and plan that identifies further risks, gaps, vulnerabilities and future enhancements which will achieve more effective and efficient maritime security against threats and recovery from all types of disasters. Once selected, the consultant will perform a comprehensive review of existing security plans within the region.
Any firm that wishes to receive a copy of the Request for Proposal should contact Ms. Lisa Himber, of the Maritime Exchange for the Delaware River and Bay, 240 Cherry Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19106. Ms. Himber may also be reached at 215-925-2615 or by e-mail: at Lisa.Himber@maritimedelriv.com.
The Maritime Exchange, by agreement with Department of Homeland Security and the Coast Guard, through the AMSC, has agreed to function as the fiduciary agent for the supplemental port security grants, as provided for by Congress.
