Cape May Point Mayor George Stanger Resigns

CAPE MAY POINT- The Municipal Clerk of the Borough of Cape May Point was notified in writing on Monday, Sept. 30 by Mayor George “Skip” Stanger of his resignation effective Oct. 1.
Cape May Point is organized under the Walsh Act and as such is subject to the Municipal Vacancy Law. N.J.S.A. 40A:16-5. Under this law the vacancy may temporarily be filled by appointment made by the two remaining commissioners. Due to the timing of the vacancy, the temporary appointee will hold office until the general election to be held in Nov. of 2014. A temporary appointment will be made at the Borough Commission meeting on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m
