Cape May Mayor Receives Recognition from League of Municipalities

Mahaney

By Press Release

CAPE MAY – At its 101st Annual Conference on Nov. 15, the New Jersey State League of Municipalities recognized Cape May Mayor Edward J. Mahaney, Jr. with a plaque presentation. The plaque, recognizing Mahaney’s service on the Executive Board of the League, was presented by Bridgeton Mayor Albert Kelly, the League’s President for 2017.
Mahaney, a long-standing committee member for the NJSLOM, was elected to the Executive Board for a term from November 2015 to November 2016. “During my year on the Executive Board, it has been my honor and privilege to advocate on behalf of New Jersey’s 565 municipal governments by having their needs and interests communicated to and met by county, state and federal governments,” Mahaney says.
Following his step down from the League’s Executive Board, Mahaney will continue his service as Secretary on the Executive Committee of Sustainable Jersey, which he has served since 2013. The New Jersey State League of Municipalities represents New Jersey’s 565 municipal governments. Members of the Board and committee represent the interests and needs of local elected officials to county, state and federal governments.
“Mayor Mahaney was a vital and active member of the League, as was evidenced by his achievements with innovation in governance, education initiatives and sustainability,” says Michael J. Darcy, Executive Director of the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. “He attended every function as a board member, and his vitality and activity in the League is something we hope to see in all of our members.”
