CAPE MAY – In his State of the City address Jan. 1, Cape May Mayor Dr. Edward J. Mahaney Jr. highlighted the plethora of projects that are designed to fulfill the City’s commitment to sustainability and resiliency. The speech featured updates on the open-space and parks system, water-supply and conservation status, infrastructure improvements, the tourism utility and hazard-mitigation projects, and presented an overview of the 2016 municipal budget.
“As we jointly embark upon a new City Council work year, it is appropriate and prudent to review the progress achieved and challenges encountered by Council during the implementation of the City’s long-range Sustainability and Resiliency Plan over the past 12 months, as well as to provide a succinct overview of the City Council’s initiatives for the 2016 year,” Mahaney said.
