Cape May County Sheriff Announces Promotion of Frank L. Germanio Jr.

COURT HOUSE – Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer announced that Sergeant First Class Frank Germanio Jr. was promoted to Lieutenant within the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Division. Lt. Germanio finished number one on the New Jersey Civil Service Examination and will be filling a current vacancy.
Lieutenant Germanio began his career as a Correctional Officer in September 1994. He completed the Camden County Correctional Academy in April of 1995. He transferred in September 1997 and was appointed to Sheriff Officer. He graduated the Cape May County Police Academy in 1998. During this tenure he served with the Transportation Unit, Identifications Bureau, Court Security Unit and the K-9 Unit.
In January 2008 he was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned to the Park Unit and later transferred to supervise Court Security Unit. He then also assumed the duties of the Transportation Unit and School Resource Officers. On January 21, 2011 he was promoted to Sgt. First Class taking on additional responsibility of supervision of 18 officers and one sergeant.
Lt. Germanio is a certified Public Manager and is currently enrolled in the New Jersey Association of Chief’s of Police Command and Leadership Program. He is also the Terminal Agency Control Officer (TAC), a Police Training Commission firearms instructor, Glock Armorer and an AR-15 Operator.
Sheriff Schaffer said, “Lt. Germanio brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and skills to our management team and I look forward to his advice and direction as we continue to move this organization forward. He is a true leader and has the respect of the officers he supervises. I am thrilled to have Frank in a position to help us accomplish our long range goals.”
