COURT HOUSE – Freeholder E. Marie Hayes and the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders recognized Cape May County Fare Free Drivers who won on the county, state and national level during 2013. Freeholder Hayes said, “Cape May County Fare Free Transportation drivers are continuing their winning ways, this year Cape May County drivers finished first and second at the state competition – taking top honors for the seventh year, and also taking home a third place win at the national competition.
Cape May County’s Brian Fitzpatrick took first place and Denise Bachofen took second place at the State “Roadeo” held at Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey on May 11, 2013 and Brian Fitzpatrick took third place at the National Roadeo in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 2, 2013.
The competitions pit Community Transportation operators against each other in challenges of the jobs they do every day – vehicle pre-trip, passenger securement, service and safety, driving skills and knowledge of federal, state and local laws.
2013 Fare Free Roadeo winners are as follows:
Diane Hufana – Townbank, NJ – First Place at County Competition
Brian Fitzpatrick – Villas, NJ – Second Place at County, First Place at State, Third Place at Nationals
Denise Bachofen -Villas, NJ – Third Place at County and Second Place at State
William Belles IV – Wildwood, NJ – Fourth Place at County Competition
Freeholder Hayes added, “Our drivers have been working hard to earn these honors…they constantly prove that they represent the best of the best. We are proud of all of our drivers.”
