Cape May County Celebrates Earth Day 2011

COURT HOUSE – The public is invited to attend the Cape May County Earth Day Celebration at the Cape May County Park and Zoo on Saturday, May 7, 2011. The theme of this year’s event is “Fragile: Handle With Care”
The day begins at 9 a.m. with a 5K Earth Day Run followed by the Earth Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fair will be a fun filled day of earth friendly activities. New this year, the Earth Day Committee will be collecting nonperishable food items that will be donated to St. Casimir’s Food Bank.
The following is a list of scheduled 2011 Earth Day Events:
7:30 a.m. 5K Run and Earth Walk Registration
9 a.m. 5K Run (pre-registration required at information booth)
10 a.m. Opening Ceremony
Welcome & Award Presentation – Daniel Beyel, Freeholder Director
Star Spangled Banner – Mark Huff, County Employee
10:30 a.m. Mascot Race
11 a.m. Guided Eco Hike – Joe Alvarez
(Pre-registration required at information booth)
11:30 a.m. Special Presentation and Recycle Awards – Lynn Crumbock
12 p.m. Performance – “The Grand Falloons”
12-3 p.m. Live Music – Sydney Kelly and The Dan Barry Band (Zoo’s Main Entrance)
1 p.m. Drum Fun Circles – Mark Jacopec
2 p.m. Performance – “The Grand Falloons”
3 p.m. Live Music – Sydney Kelly
