CAPE MAY — Call Ray Maher a joiner.
He has served on numerous boards and committees in Cape May and upon retirement from those positions, was honored by City Council, Tue., Nov. 1.
Mayor Edward J. Mahaney Jr. described Maher as a “very conscientious, veteran board member,” who did his homework before meetings and looked out for the best interest of the city’s residents.
Maher served on the city’s Shade Tree Commission, Environmental Commission and Planning Board.
Deputy Mayor Jack Wichterman added that Maher also served on the Mayor’s Advisory Council and the board of the Taxpayers Association.
He said about the only thing Maher didn’t do in Cape May was “clean the windows in City Hall and you would have done that had we asked you.”
Mahaney and Wichterman presented Maher with a plaque.
“I think I got as much out of this as I gave,” said Maher.
