CAPE MAY — It took four tries, but City Council on Tue., May 3 awarded a $7.5-million contract to Ogren Construction to erect the new Convention Hall in place of the former one on Beach Avenue.
Five bids were received on April 26, and Ogren’s was deemed the one that would get to build the structure that will become a landmark in the Nation’s Oldest Seashore Resort between Stockton Street and Gurney Street on the Promenade.
Actual bid was $7,523,000.
According to Mayor Edward Mahaney Jr.,who spoke earlier with the Herald, the structure is expected to be dedicated on Memorial Day Weekend 2012.
