CAPE MAY – Cape May City Council introduced ordinance amendments to bring its affordable housing rules into compliance with a plan approved by the court. The city recently reached a settlement concerning its fair sharing housing obligations that will require a 20 percent set aside for affordable housing in for-sale developments and 15 percent in rental developments of five or more residential units.
In addition, the city agreed to modify its ordinance to allow for 12 accessory apartments for low or moderate income individuals in approved subdivisions.
The settlement, approved by the court in May, will satisfy the city’s fair housing obligations through 2025.
