WILDWOOD — An Oct. 18 meeting between property owners and representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which was canceled due to the federal government shutdown has been rescheduled for Fri., Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
The meeting will allow Wildwood property owners whose homes have been placed in higher risk flood zones by the new Advisory Based Flood Elevation (ABFE) maps to question FEMA officials. Under the new ABFE maps, owners placed in high-risk zones have the option of raising their properties to new elevations or risk an increase in flood insurance premiums.
“Anyone with questions needs to attend this meeting to learn their options,” said Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano.
Representatives from FEMA will include risk map outreach specialists, an engineer, a National Flood Insurance Program insurance specialist, a flood plain manager and a hazard mitigation specialist.
The meeting is open to all Cape May County property owners and will be held in Lower Township Hall, 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.
