PETERSBURG – Upper Township Engineer Paul Dietrich informed Committee members at their March 23 meeting that construction projects are not banned activities during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“As a result of this carve-out of construction projects, we plan to authorize the contractor to proceed with bulkhead improvement at Sumner Avenue, in the Strathmere section of the township, starting work this Friday or Monday [March 27 or 30],” Dietrich said.
“Are we sure mobilizing the contractor is the right course, given the serious concerns related to the spreading of the virus?” Mayor Richard Palombo asked.
“This is a great time to do the project since no one is around at this time of year,” Committee member Curtis Corson replied.
“We understand your reservations and will be monitoring the situation carefully and will make adjustments as needed,” replied Dietrich.
