Brannen Holds Meeting to Ask ‘Why Wildwood?’

By Press Release

WILDWOOD — At 7 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 18, Commissioner Al Brannen will hold a special meeting at City Hall to discuss possible housing for homeless US Military veterans at 411-419 West Taylor Avenue.
There could be as many as 48 residents in total.
“We need to start a dialogue on this issue,” said Brannen. “Why Wildwood? We have no public transportation or facilities to help veterans with their needs on the island; additionally, we’re a seasonal, tourist town that is closed for five months out of the year. Our job opportunities in winter months for these housing residents are very limited.”
Citizens are encouraged to share their opinions at the special meeting, and a final decision will be made after the public has a second opportunity to weigh in on the proposal at a meeting of the city’s commissioners. Representatives of the project have been invited and are expected to attend, as well.
