COURT HOUSE – Freeholders passed a resolution at their Oct. 9 meeting awarding a five-year medical services contract to CFG Health Systems, LLC, to provide inmates medical service at the new jail, currently under construction.
The contract calls for an initial two-year contract, followed by three one-year agreements, not to exceed $4.8 million over the life of the contract.
Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton told CFG representative Les Pasquale that the county is anxious to get the jail open and finalizing the contract was another step in that direction.
Pasquale thanked the county for hiring CFG and said they provide medical services to many jails throughout New Jersey.
Built to house 169 inmates, the current facility was renovated once to allow an inmate population of 188. On average, the inmate population is 230-250. The new jail will be able to house up to 320 inmates and meet current state regulations.
