WILDWOOD — City Commission today (Wednesday, May 5) awarded trash and recycling collection services to Blue Diamond Disposal, of Woodbine. The $2.275 million contract is expected to save the city about $1 million per year.
According to the Press of Atlantic City, the contract starts on May 17 and 10 current city sanitation employees are being laid off as part of the privatization move.
Blue Diamond’s was the lowest of three bids offered for the contract. Also bidding were: EarthTech of Greenfield, Upper Township, $2.6 million; and Waste Management of Ewing, Mercer County, which bid $2.63 million.
