TRENTON – On March 11, Gov. Chris Christie appointed Republican Arthur “Stig” Blomkvest of North Cape May to the Cape May County Board of Elections. Reappointed to that board, also on March 11, was Democrat John B. Feeley of Sea Isle City. Feeley is board chair.
As chair, Feeley is paid $14,248.95 annually. Members of the Board of Elections receive $9,499.84 annually, per the county’s payroll. The board has an equal number of Republicans and Democrats.
On Jan. 30, Blomkvest unsuccessfully sought the Cape May County Republican Party’s nod to fill the unexpired freeholder seat vacated by Surrogate M. Susan Sheppard. County committee members elected E. Marie Hayes for that seat.
Also on March 11, Dr. Joseph E. Salvatore, and his wife, Patricia Anne Salvatore of Cold Spring also received gubernatorial recognition. Dr. Salvatore was nominated for reappointment to the New Jersey Historical Commission. Patricia Anne Salvatore was nominated for appointment to the New Jersey Historic Trust. The couple is active in keeping alive the history of Cape May County.
Dr. Salvatore is chairman of Naval Air Station Wildwood, a naval aviation museum located in Hangar 1 at Cape May County Airport. Anne Salvatore is executive director of Historic Cold Spring Village.
