COURT HOUSE – Atlantic Avenue in the county seat is now Bishop William L. McClurkin Way.
Middle Township Committee adopted an ordinance May 21 that designated an additional name for Atlantic Avenue. It will also be known as Bishop William McClurkin Way.
McClurkin was the longtime pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Court House. He died Dec. 31, 2017 at the age of 78. The ordinance notes that McClurkin was chairman and member of eight civil and ministerial associations in the township.  The move is in recognition of “his dedicated and devoted community efforts.”
Appropriate street signs will be erected “setting forth the designation.”
