By Press Release

TRENTON – Legislation sponsored by Senator Jeff Van Drew which designates New Jersey Route 47 from Maurice River Township to Wildwood City as “Veterans Memorial Highway at Delsea Drive” is now law.
“It is important that we remember the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting the United States and ensuring the safety of our nation. These heroes sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we do every day,” said Senator Van Drew (D-Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland). “This dedication will honor our veterans and serve as a reminder of their service and all that it affords us in this country.”
The new law, S-1659, dedicates the section of Route 47 from the intersection of Route 55 and Route 47 in Maurice River Township southward to Route 47 at Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood City as “Veterans Memorial Highway at Delsea Drive.” The law provides no State funds may be used for producing, purchasing, erecting or maintaining signs for the designation. The Department of Transportation is authorized to receive private funds to pay the costs associated with the law.
The bill cleared the Assembly in June with a vote of 76-0; the Senate approved it with a vote of 35-0 last September. It was signed into law Friday by the Governor. It takes effect immediately.
