Woodbine — The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Parks and Forestry, on Sept. 3 received bids for the long-awaited project to provide municipal water service through the Woodbine Municipal Utilities Authority to Belleplain State Forest, according to a release from Woodbine Mayor William Pikolycky.
Bids were: B&B Construction, $858,000; Mount Construction, $987,955; Jersey Construction $1,055,099; T&T Commonwealth Construction, $1,079,654.31; Mathis Construction, $1,086,605; Arthur R. Henry, Inc., $1,236,135; Elk/Crown
Pipeline, $1,224,000; K.E. Seifert, Inc., $1,469, 860.
Churchill Consulting Engineers of Berlin, NJ, designed this watermain extension.
The approximately $1 million budgeted project will replace three water supply wells serving the State Forest’s Administrative Building, Maintenance Complex, Lake Nummy Bathhouse, Day Use Area Pavilions, Interpretive Center, North Shore Camping, Meisle Field Camping, CCC Camping and Group Camping Areas. The existing wells will be abandoned as per NJDEP regulations and the associated storage tanks, pumps, and equipment will be removed. The municipal tie-in will follow Route 550 to the forest and thence to the forest entrance road. The approximate distance of this proposed new water main is two and a half (2.5) miles.
“We look forward to NJDEP’s decision awarding this contract and setting the date for work to begin on it,” noted Pikolycky. “The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.”
