Beach Rowdiness

By Camille Sailer

SEA ISLE CITY – Sea Isle City’s City Council heard a complaint during its June 12 meeting that focused on the “unnecessary nonsense” a resident observed on local beaches during Memorial Day.
“I saw things on the beach that weekend that I’ve never seen before such as really heavy drinking, numerous fights, open containers of alcohol on the shuttles, and I even heard from a couple of neighbors that a tent was erected for urination.” In response, Council Chair Mary Tighe said, “We’re a resort town and want everyone to come to Sea Isle but definitely not at the expense of everyone’s enjoyment. We’ve had more police presence on the beaches and Boardwalk so we’re staying on top of any incidents and want to publicize we will not tolerate unacceptable behavior.”
