COURT HOUSE – For those who may be biting their nails over the general election returns, the wait will be over on Nov. 21. That is when Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, New Jersey’s chief election official, has directed county clerks to extend the deadline for certification of results.
Cape May County Clerk Rita Fulginiti’s office has updated the unofficial election results. They will be found at: http://www.capemaycountygov.net/Cit-e-Access/webpage.cfm?TID=5&TPID=4608
An additional 92 mail-in ballots have been added to the unofficial election tally, Fulginiti reported Nov. 15. Those ballots were received by both electronic means and by mail in the Board of Elections office after Election Day as permitted by Executive Order.
The Cape May County Board of Elections reviewed the certification statements on each of the mail-in ballots received and determined that, among them, 92 be added to the totals. Fulginiti stated, “Please continue to be patient. There remains the possibility of receipt of additional mail-in ballots which were postmarked by election and delivered by U.S. Mail up to Nov. 19.”
“By the end of this week we will be adding totals from additional provisional ballots cast by Cape May County voters in other counties throughout New Jersey. We will also be posting the detail of the personal choice or “write in” votes cast in the various races. We will continue to keep you informed by email,” the clerk stated.
