AVALON – The Avalon Department of Public Works announced that the Borough’s popular free paper shredding day for Borough residents and property owners returns May 10 2014 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The paper shredding event will be held at the Public Works Recycling Center located at 15th Street and Dune Drive.
“This free paper shredding event is a valuable service to Avalon residents, businesses, and property owners”, said Avalon Department of Public Works Director Bill Macomber. “This event provides an outstanding opportunity for our community to securely destroy paper documents and add paper products to the recycling stream”.
The document shredding will be provided by Guardian Document Shredding Company of Mount Holly, New Jersey. All materials will be destroyed and shredding on site for maximum security. Documents may include staples and clip binders and will be destroyed on site before taken to an approved recycling facility. Up to 4,000 pounds of paper can be shredded per hour and a closed-circuit monitor provides a view of the document destruction as it happens.
The shredding event is available to all residents, businesses, and property owners in the Borough of Avalon at no cost. Shredding will be conducted on a first come, first served basis. The shredding event coincides with a day full of activities in Avalon including the Borough-wide yard sale sponsored by the Avalon Garden Club, and a bicycle auction conducted by the Avalon Police Department.
