Avalon Mulls Livestreaming

By Vince Conti

AVALON – A small group of Avalon residents have advocated for live streaming of borough council and planning board meetings. Martha Wright even began video streaming the meetings from her smartphone.
A May 9 work session discussion on beach maintenance appears to have cleared the way for open discussion of the issue.
At prior meetings, the council had said little other than that the issue is being considered. Now, Council President John McCorristin said that he favored a work session discussion on livestreaming meetings. He would like to see that discussion take place before he relinquishes the council presidency in July at the annual reorganization.
With few meetings left before then, the issue should soon be on the agenda.
