AVALON – Avalon Mayor Martin Pagliughi and Borough officials honored volunteers who serve Avalon with a recognition luncheon that was held Sept. 23 inside the Avalon Senior Center on Dune Drive. Volunteers were honored for generously donating their talents to improve the lives of others in the Avalon community.
“Volunteers in Avalon truly make Avalon a special place to live”, Pagliughi said during remarks at the luncheon. “I want to thank each and every one of you for donating your time to enhance and improve the lives of others in our community”.
The luncheon was also attended by councilmembers Chuck Covington, Dave Ellenberg, and John McCorristin along with various department heads in Avalon’s government.
Volunteers who attended the luncheon included:
-Cass Quinn, who provides piano instruction on Wednesday mornings at the Avalon Senior Center.
-Joan Fitzgerald, who teaches both Spite ‘N Malice and Pinochle on Mondays and Thursdays at the Avalon Senior Center.
-Barbara Blake, who offers Mah Jongg classes at the Avalon Senior Center.
Volunteers were presented with a luncheon in their honor, and complimentary gifts including fall plants.
