AVALON – The Avalon Planning and Zoning Board Jan. 10 granted an extension for the development of the property that once held AJ’s Antiques and other businesses along Ocean Drive, from 20th to 21st streets. The board approved the use of the land for eight residential lots in 2019.
An attorney for property owner Anthony Zurawski said uncertainties introduced by the Covid pandemic, along with recent economic volatility impacting construction and supply chains, led his client to seek an extension of the 2019 approvals.
The board agreed to the petition and the approvals were extended until Nov. 21.
Meanwhile, the property is part of a larger real estate package that has been placed on the market. That parcel encompasses an entire Avalon block, from 20th to 21st streets and Dune to Ocean drives. That offer is inclusive of the real estate, operating businesses, and liquor licenses.
