Avalon Bike Path Extension Starts

By Vince Conti

AVALON – The lack of consecutive warm days had delayed the start of construction for the extension to the Avalon bike path. Work is starting according to Business Administrator Scott Wahl. Brief interruptions for parking in work areas can be expected and are detailed on the borough website.
The existing path along Dune Drive was completed over a decade ago. The extension of the path represents both an added recreational option for bicyclists and a move to improve bicycle safety in the borough. The expansion is designed to safely navigate bicyclists around the most congested areas of Dune Drive.
Wahl told Avalon Borough Council that the work might be completed by the end of the month. The project is funded by a county Open Space grant.
