By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

SOMERS POINT — An autopsy performed today (May 24) on a Georgia man found shot to death over the weekend at a Lower Township marina has not shed any light on the manner in which he died.
Vernard Ellingsen, 54, of Cairo, Ga, was found dead at the bottom of the wheel house stairs of the 72-foot scallop boat the Adrianna on Saturday morning by an employee.
State police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones said Ellingsen suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. The medical examiner did not give a ruling on the manner of death which is currently pending further investigation, Jones said.
Jones said state police detectives were thoroughly investigating the death.
