WOODBINE – The Pinelands Commission held its annual Pinelands Orientation for newly elected and appointed officials and a refresher for other elected or appointed municipal officials July 30, 2015, at the Pinelands Commission Headquarters, Richard J. Sullivan Center, 15 Springfield Road, Pemberton, NJ. This Orientation is co-sponsored by the New Jersey Pinelands Commission and the Pinelands Municipal Council, who held their bi-monthly meeting as part of this Orientation.
This annual seminar presents an opportunity for a local official to meet the Pinelands Commission Executive Director and senior staff and to discuss current Pinelands issues from a local perspective, while networking with meeting and networking with other local officials throughout the Pinelands region.
Attendees learned how their community’s Master Plan and zoning ordinances relate to the Pinelands CMP and how the permitting of development is coordinated at the State, Regional, County, and Municipal levels and how to get quick answers to questions their constituents have about Pinelands programs and regulations.
“This was the fifteenth annual Orientation. The event was well-attended; I do, however, want to again remind the 53 Mayors of the Pinelands area and their designees of the importance of attending these bi-monthly meetings. I commend the Pinelands Commission staff on their presentations. Information about both the Pinelands Commission and the Pinelands Municipal Council can be found on their website www.nj.gov/pinelands,” added Mayor Pikolycky.
