WILDWOOD ─ The expression “dragging feet” has been used regarding the city’s Susquehanna Avenue bulkhead project.
City Engineer Edward Dennis commented the city had been accused of “dragging its feet,” but, according to Mayor Ernie Troiano, the term cannot be laid at the Commission’s feet.
Troiano told the Herald Dec. 29 that the project is finished and the only issue involves concrete.
“There is a problem with the treatment,” said Troiano. “It’s a cosmetic thing.”
According to Troiano, the concrete treatment has not been applied properly and, in discussions with the head of Public Works, the contractor may “relieve” the individual who applied the treatment. Payment will be given, minus the treatment application.
Troiano also said the city would meet with another party regarding the work. “After that (meeting), we will know more,” Troiano added.
In previous comments, Commissioner Peter Byron concurred that the project was finished but that the concrete work was lacking in “aesthetics.”
Improving the area surrounding the bulkhead is designed to encourage fishing and to enjoy the water, similar to a location in North Wildwood.
