TRENTON–AAA Mid-Atlantic commends the General Assembly for voting in favor Wednesday, March 4 of three teen-driver-related bills, the passage into law of which will increase safety on the state’s roads for all drivers and passengers.
· A-3068, which expands requirements for special learner’s and examination permits;
· A-3069, Kyleigh’s law, which requires holders of special learner’s permits, examination permits and provisional driver’s licenses to display certain decals, passed unanimously. This bill is now on the Governor’s desk;
· A-3070, which revises certain restrictions on permit holders and provisional driver’s licenses; renames provisional licenses probationary, passed unanimously. This bill is now on the Governor’s desk.
Each of these measures originated as a March 2008 recommendation of the Teen Driver Study Commission.
“These measures will help the least experienced drivers gain valuable practice time, decrease distractions and empower police to enforce important laws,” said AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesman David Weinstein, AAA’s representative on the Teen Driver Safety Commission. “AAA commends the General Assembly for their overwhelming commitment to teen driver safety and traffic safety in general.”
