CREST HAVEN – An agreement between the county and six municipalities to provide Code Blue warming shelters was approved by freeholders Jan. 3.
According to the resolution, the state enacted the Code Blue law that “requires municipal warming centers for people in need when a Code Blue declaration is established…” by the county Office of Emergency Management.”
It further stated that the county desired to “assist” in the establishment and operation of warming centers during Code Blue declarations.
Middle Township will receive $25,000 while Lower Township will receive $20,000.
Wildwood, North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest and West Wildwood will each receive $5,000.
In other business the board:
* Authorized a contract to purchase a property at 372 Court House-South Dennis Road for $362,500 from Charles F. Harvey III. The parcel will be used by the County Prosecutor’s Office and Sheriff’s Office. In an earlier interview Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton said the Prosecutor’s Office plans to use the facility when it questions children in a home-like atmosphere.
* Approved an agreement between the county and the Assistant Prosecutors’ Association in the County Prosecutor’s Office from Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2022. Those salaries can be seen at the Herald’s website (capemaycountyherald.com) under Government Salaries on pages 4-8 of the 2019 Freeholders Salary Resolution.
* Authorized the purchase, under state contract, of human resources, benefits and payroll system software for $123,806 from SHI International Corp. for Human Resources, $42,554 for implementation and $24,761 for annual maintenance.
* Approved a lease agreement between the county and Stell Exterior Inc. for a family planning and women’s health services satellite clinic in Ocean City.
