33rd Basic Course for Police Officers Graduate

COURT HOUSE – Freeholder Leonard Desiderio is proud to announce that the 33rd Basic Course for Police Officers graduated from the Police Academy June 25, 2012. The ceremony was held at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center. Freeholder Desiderio addressed the class and Cape May County Sheriff Gary Schaffer was the keynote speaker.
Fourteen police officers from seven departments in New Jersey will graduate after completing a 22 week training program at the Cape May County Police Academy. The Academy is the only residential based training center in the state of New Jersey for municipal recruit training.
The class started with a physical fitness average of 77.1 and finished with an average of 91.9%. The body fat percentage dropped from 11.9% to 9.9%. The Class final academic average was 92.94% and their firearm average was 96.1%. The class president is Recruit Robert Scarano, Jr., of the Sea Isle City Police Department who was elected by members of the class.
The class motto is, “You Never Know How Strong You Are Until Being Strong Is the Only Choice You Have.”

Vehicle Operations Award: Justin R. Robinson, North Wildwood P. D. – 25.6 sec.
Physical Fitness Award: Dennis M. Ehret, Jr., Sea Isle City Police Dept. – 99.5%
Firearms Award: Anthony P. Tirelli, Jr., Stone Harbor Police Dept. – 100%
Directors Award – Overall Class Ranking # 1: Justin R. Robinson, North Wildwood Police Department
