WILDWOOD – Three Wildwood City firefighters graduated from the Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration – Certified Public Manager program in New Brunswick, Aug. 17.
Deputy Fire Chief Ernie Troiano III, Capt. James Grauel and Capt. Daniel Dunn completed the 10-month, 21-course program.
The program, administrated by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission, equips fire officers with the schools and competencies needed to impact their organization’s efforts to meet its mission and performance goals in the present public management environment.
The three gained the knowledge needed to tackle complex organization challenges, manage their day-to-day operations more effectively and grow as leaders, according to a release.
Grauel’s capstone project was “Combined Emergency Response to Active Shooters. It was also nominated for the Askew Award. That award is given to acknowledge the efforts of those who have demonstrated exemplary work in the completion of their CPM projects which are a vital component of each participant’s training.
“Being a graduate of the program in 2007 convinced me that our officers attending this course would benefit the City of Wildwood, our fire department and also help them grow as leaders,” stated Fire Chief Daniel Speigel. “It is important to have a succession plan in the forefront of an organization and this class will undoubtedly provide that aspect.”
