2 Subdivisions Approved

By Vince Conti

AVALON – Two applications for major subdivisions were approved at the Avalon Planning and Zoning Board meeting Oct. 8.
AJ’s Antiques, at 20th and 21st streets and Ocean Drive, is closing. The long-time emporium will be razed and the land given to a subdivision with eight single-family homes.
Owner Anthony Zurawski had proposed a boutique hotel on land on the south side of 21st Street, between Ocean and Dune drives. That proposal failed to get borough approval.
The lots that were once home to Jack’s Place between 36th and 37th streets on Ocean Drive were also approved for a subdivision. Owner Thomas Welsh, Jr. plans five single-family homes on the property.
