2 New Officers Hired

By Vince Conti

CAPE MAY – Police Chief Anthony Marino presented two new patrol officers at the Cape May City Council meeting Sept. 17.
Marino recently reported to council that patrol squads were four officers down, functioning without the ideal level of staffing.
Officer Colt Gibson transferred from the Millville Police Department and brings 10 years of experience to his position. His years of service mean that he can step into the squad rotation immediately.
Officer Thomas Moore served as a Class I and II officer in Ocean City. Already familiar with Cape May, Moore will be in the January training academy class, with the expectation that he will be added to patrol in the spring of 2020.
Faced with another retirement this fall, Marino will continue his efforts to fill the ranks of the department.
