COURT HOUSE – April 16: The Cape May County Health Department (DOH) reported three new positive cases of COVID-19 infection and two additional fatalities.
The two deaths were a 93-year-old female, from Lower Township, and a 63-year-old female, from Woodbine. The Woodbine resident is the youngest in the county to succumb to the virus.
The newly reported cases were one each in Middle Township, Upper Township and Wildwood.
Freehold Director Gerald Thornton urged residents to “continue doing what you’re doing – staying home, practicing physical distancing, wearing cloth face coverings, and self-isolating and self-quarantining when necessary.”
Stone Harbor and Cape May Point remain the only municipalities in the county that have not reported a confirmed case.
One Sea Isle City individual was removed from quarantine, raising the off-quarantine total to 18.
Today, the state announced an increase of 4,391 confirmed cases and 362 fatalities. This is the third consecutive day with over 300 new deaths.
The NJ Department of Health has analyzed 1,442 of the COVID-19 deaths and found that cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus are the underlying conditions with the most significant relationship to them. Other conditions, like chronic lung disease, follow as third and fourth in the list of known conditions for COVID-19 related deaths.
