CREST HAVEN – For those who drive, and Spout Off, about the condition of some county roads, help is on the way. In the form of a $1.7-million contract to Landberg Construction LLC of Mays Landing, awarded by freeholders Oct. 24, smooth riding lies ahead.
The contract calls for resurfacing of portions of Indian Trail Road (CR 618), Shunpike Road (CR 620), Hand Avenue (CR658), and Shell Bay Avenue (CR 674). Middle Township has already paved a portion of Hand Avenue between Route 9 and South Boyd Street in Court House.
In other action the board:
* Approved contract documents for the Technical High School softball field construction to seek bids to be done by the spring of 2018.
* Opposed a congressional move to eliminate the state and local (SALT) tax deduction from federal income taxes.
* Approved a $475,000 agreement to purchase, with Open Space funds, an Ocean City parcel in Block 811.01 Lot 3 of 14,000 square feet.
* Appointed Raymond Poudrier as alternate to the County Construction Board of Appeals with a term to expire Dec. 14, 2021.
* Leased the Nathaniel Foster House in Villas to Lower Township for 25 years. The structure was purchased with Open Space funds.
* Approved a change order for $165,901 to Arthur J. Ogren Inc. for added electrical generator work done at the Lower Township Public Service Building at the county airport where central dispatch functions will be located.
* Approved a change order for $49,357 with Aliano Brothers General Contractors Inc. for walls and ceiling that will allow the use of bleach, something the original plans did not consider.
* Added $14,000 to the contract of Michael Baker International Inc. for an electrical issue at the 96th Street Bridge movable span.
