COURT HOUSE – Mayor Dan Lockwood announced that Middle Township was awarded a grant in the amount of $140,000 from the NJ Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of Second Street in Rio Grande between Linden Lane and Rt. 47. The project will include replacing sidewalks and curbs for a total project cost estimated to be $152,000.
The NJDOT Municipal State Aid Program is a very popular and competitive program. Last August, Middle Township applied for a grant to reconstruct Second Street in Rio Grande.
“We are grateful to the NJDOT for recognizing our need and the worthiness of this project. Middle Township recognizes the importance of further improvements to the local transportation network and the completion of this project will help us get closer to that goal and will further enhance a transportation strategy that provides mobility and safety for our residents’. We are dedicated to pursuing all funding opportunities including grants to help us pay for improvements throughout the Township during these difficult economic times,” stated Mayor Lockwood
The project must be bid and awarded before a start date can be given.
