Gov. Chris Christie Visits Wildwood Boardwalk; Will Hold Press Conference in Cape May

NORTH WILDWOOD — Earlier today, Gov. Chris Christie met with the public on the Boardwalk at Morey’s Piers.
Christie is scheduled to hold a press conference in Cape May on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at the 300 Block of the Washington Street Mall around 11:30 a.m. to discuss the outcomes of the state’s programs focusing on the recovery efforts from Hurricane Sandy.

The City of Cape May is pleased to announce today that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has scheduled an on-site visit to “The Nation’s Oldest Seashore Resort” on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. The Governor will conduct a press conference for the news media and general public in the 300 Block of the Washington Street Mall at approximately 11:30 am. There will be a question and answer session with the media and public at the conclusion of the Governor’s remarks. Following this press conference, Governor Christie will stroll the entire Washington Street Mall for the purpose of meeting and exchanging viewpoints with residents, merchants, and visitors in our “National Historic Landmark City”.
The primary purpose of Governor Christie’s presence in Cape May is to gain a personal, first-hand status report of the actual outcomes of the State’s comprehensive and integrated programs focusing on the recovery efforts from last October’s Hurricane Sandy devastation. During the past ten months, the Governor and his Cabinet members have been communicating and interacting almost daily with county and local elected officials to ensure that the health, safety, welfare, physical, and economic needs of our individual residents and our county and municipal communities have been effectively and efficiently addressed. As we collectively move forward in our long-term plan for recovery and resilience in New Jersey, Governor Christie desires to receive and assess the personal experiences and outlooks of our residents, business owners, and visitors from throughout New Jersey, the nation, and the world.
The pertinent City departments will implement appropriate strategies to assure the safe and smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic throughout the Washington Street Mall area during the Governor’s visit. Therefore, please be alert for some temporary street closings and traffic re-routing. In addition, the City will provide approximately 100 chairs for the seating convenience of the media and general public at the press conference in the 300 block of the Washington Street Mall.
