Give us your best shot

By Jim Vanore

We believe that our readers love lists.
Lists of “dos” and “don’ts.”
Lists of places to visit.
Lists of places not to visit.
Lists of accomplishments.
Lists of people—the notable, the mundane, the profane.
So On Deck now asks for your contributions to our catalog (sounds classier than “list”) of your favorite things here at the shore.
Who makes the best martini? (Even your uncle Barney can qualify.)
Where is the best parking lot you’ve had to navigate? (For comparisons sake, you can include the worst here also.)
The best route to or from the shore.
Do you have a favorite fishing spot? (We don’t hold out much hope of getting input on this one.)
Where’s the best place to watch a sunset/sunrise?
The best place to walk/jog/bicycle?
The best place to go with the kids.
Without the kids.
The best place to get away from the madding crowd (with apologies to Thomas Hardy), or to get in with the madding crowd?
So you get the scheme. Let’s hear what it is that really makes the shore shine in your eyes. And don’t be shy about explaining why you feel the way you do.
We hope to find some revelations. Even On Deck doesn’t know everything—just most things—about the Jersey Shore.
Mail us, E-mail us, or drop off your input right here at the Herald.
Get your choices to us quickly; we want to publish the results in our Labor Day issue, Aug. 30.
One caveat here—please don’t give us a shameless advertisement for your (or your uncle Barney’s) business. We’ll catch on.
Probably.
