WILDWOOD – Wildwood Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a drowning in the pool at a motel located in the 4100 block Ocean Avenue in Wildwood at approximately 4:30 p.m. July 8.
Upon arrival, police and fire personnel found that other tenants of the motel had removed the unresponsive 6-year-old victim from the water and were rendering CPR.
The investigation into the incident revealed that the victim was vacationing at the motel with several family members from Philadelphia and had unknowingly entered the deep end of the pool before being located several minutes later. Wildwood Rescue took over treatment and the victim was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center, where she was ultimately pronounced deceased several hours later.
At this time, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this incident and the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division continues to investigate.
