WOODBINE– It took state police only hours to solve a violent home invasion robbery early Sunday morning. All but one of the suspects in the case are behind bars.
State Police responded to the 400 block of Bryant Street at 4:20 a.m. on Sun. July 18, where three residents were robbed at gunpoint, state police Sgt. Stephen Jones Said.
The individuals involved made off with cash, a game system and jewelry.
One person was pistol whipped in the robbery. That person was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Belleplain Emergency Corps where they were treated and released, Jones said.
Within hours of the robbery state police arrested Assad Price 19, of Jefferson Ave in Woodbine on an unrelated theft charge.
Price was in possession of some of the stolen items from the Bryant Street robbery.
Further investigation led police to 216 De Hirsch Avenue where four people were arrested in connection with the robbery. The gun believed to have been used in the robbery was also recovered at the home and some of the items taken from Bryant Street.
Assad Price 19, of Woodbine, Christoper Kelly, 20 of Lower Twp, Wilfredo Rosa, 19 of Woodbine and Benjamen Smith, 22 of Woodbine were charged with armed robbery and other offenses and lodged in the Cape May County Jail on $150,000 bail.
A 16 year-old male juvenile was also charged with robbery and other offenses and lodged in a Cumberland county juvenile detention center.
Additionally unrelated to the robbery Jesus Rodriguez, 22 of Woodbine was charged with obstruction and drug possession during the raid on De Hirsch Ave. A 16 year-old female was also charged with obstruction. Both were released on a summons.
The homeowner Jacqueline Lewis, 36, was taken into custody at the scene however not charged with any crime, Jones said.
One male juvenile remains at large in the robbery, Jones said.
The robbery was investigated by Detective Michael Stewart with the assistance of troopers from the Woodbine station and Troop A headquarters.
