By Herald Staff

RIO GRANDE – At approximately 2:30 a.m. Rio Grande Fire and The New Jersey Forest Fire Service were dispatched for smoke in the woods behind Kmart.
Upon arrival, they found a woods fire approximately one acre burning in the woods directly behind the shopping center. The Forestry Service extinguished the fire in approximately one hour.
Due to the dry conditions, they brought a plow in to make a fire line to contain the fire. Rio Grande Fire supplied the NJFFS with water.
There was no damaged to any structures and no injuries.
