Wildwood Crest Police, Fire Company Battle Blaze, Rescue Homeowner

WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police received numerous 911 calls about smoke coming from a residence on Aster Rd. Oct. 25 at 10:15 a.m.
Sgt. Denise Holt arrived at 206 E. Aster Rd. to find heavy smoke coming from inside the residence. Inside she discovered the owner, Charles Meyers, unconscious and not moving. She, along with retired CMC Sheriffs Corporal Jack Maurer, removed Meyers from the house and administered first aid.
The fire was located in the living room and extinguished by Detective Sgt. Edward Gorski and Patrol Officer Chris Webb. The Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Company responded and completed extinguishing the fire.
Meyers was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Wildwood Crest Rescue Squad and is expected to make a full recovery.
No other injuries were reported.
