UPDATE: Whitesboro Fire Deemed Suspicious

WHITESBORO — On Sept. 1 around 3 a.m., the Middle Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a structure fire on Route 9 South. Officers arrived and found an abandoned residence fully engulfed in flames. The Rio Grande Fire Department, Green Creek Fire Department and Lower Township Fire Department responded to the fire.
The fire has been deemed suspicious in nature and is under investigation by the Middle Township Major Crimes Unit, Cape May County Fire Marshalls Office and the Cape May County Prosecutors Office.
This is the third suspicious fire in Whitesboro in recent weeks. On August 7th and 8th, the Middle Township Police Department responded to two separate fires, one was an abandoned residence, the second was a dump truck, both were deemed suspicious.
