TUCKAHOE — As of 1 p.m. Feb. 8, a massive search was continuing for the occupant of a dwelling that burned at 2:40 a.m. at 1 Homestead Road.
First responders from Tuckahoe Volunteer Fire Department found the dwelling engulfed in flames, with entrapment reported.
Later in the morning, a N.J. State Police helicopter was flying over the wooded tract, which is located off Narrows Road, in Steelmantown.
Also searching for the missing occupant were the Cape May County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, Upper Township K-9 unit, Marmora, Tuckahoe and Seaville volunteer firefighters.
Sifting through the rubble for clues was the State Fire Marshal and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Unit.
Standing by to assist, if needed, was the Upper Township Rescue Squad.
No further information is available at this time. N.J. State Police are drafting a release about the situation, according to an official at the Woodbine Station.
