WILDWOOD CREST – Wildwood Crest Police Department received a report June 19 at approximately 4:23 p.m. of smoke coming from a residence in the 100 block West Buttercup Road. Upon officers’ arrival on scene, they observed the occupants of the residence standing outside and a working structure fire on the second floor of the residence, according to a release.
Fire departments from Wildwood Crest, Wildwood, North Wildwood and West Wildwood, as well as Rio Grande Fire Department’s Rapid Intervention Team and Wildwood Crest Rescue responded to the scene and assisted in extinguishing the fire. One of the residents was treated on scene for smoke inhalation. There were no other injuries to report.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by Wildwood Crest Police Detective Division and Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office.
